Lymphatic drainage was created in 1936 by Emil Vodder, a Danish doctor who used the technique to complement the treatment of accumulated fluids in limbs in his patients. It is performed with the use of gentle, slow and repetitive pressure where there is no slipping of the tissue to be treated but the action of “pushing and relaxing” the subcutaneous tissue in two different touch phases. This process causes edemas to be resorbed, accelerating the healing process and treating different pathologies.
